The two kinds
| Kind | How you can tell | What you do |

| Licence key | Checkout asks you for nothing about your account. | Copy the key from the order page and enter it in the app or on the vendor's site. |
| Account upgrade | Checkout asks for your Account Email (or, for GitHub Copilot, your GitHub username). | Nothing. The seller upgrades that account; you sign in again to see it. |
Read the listing for the edition, the device limit and whether the licence is one-time or renews. Those vary per listing, and buying the wrong edition is not a delivery failure.
