Check the region on the listing
Game Pass codes are region-bound. A code for another region will not redeem on your account.

Sign in first
Sign in to the Microsoft account you actually play on, on the console or on Microsoft's site.

Redeem the code
Use the redeem option in the Microsoft Store or on the console. Copy the code from the order page rather than typing it.
Microsoft may refuse a Game Pass code on an account that already has an active conversion or an ongoing plan. If so, keep the code — do not redeem it elsewhere — and report the problem on the order.
